7. My daughter was a guest columnist for the Arizona Republic newspaper. Her article,
(about me) is on our website at http://joyfulyogastudio.com/testimonials#Hillary
 I’m such a proud mom!

8.      Healthy Living Tips

a)      Change one thing at a time! For example, if you decide to cut back on drinking soda, that is wonderful. Try not to add other big changes at the same time.

b)      Move your body joyfully! Find those physical activities that bring you the most
joy and do them…no excuses!

c)      Plan your day around your fitness classes…not the other way around.

d)     Invite a friend to join you in class, but don’t be attached to the outcome. They may say “no” or simply not show up. Enjoy your class without disappointment.  Perhaps when they continuously hear how energetic you feel and they see your shapely physique, they will join you in a future class!

e)      Drink water: a minimum (in ounces) of half your body weight (in pounds.)

For example: If you weigh 140 lbs, drink at least 70 ounces of water per day. Increase that quantity if you are losing water via perspiration.

f)       Every time you go to the market, try a new seasonal fruit or veggie. Children love to help you choose.

g)      Graze. As you prepare to have children and teens home for the summer break, consider changing the way your family eats in June. Young people do best with 5 – 6 small, healthy meals rather than three big ones (adults, too!). Why not try this as a family? Smaller portions. Lighter meals. Less grouchiness. Less grabbing of unhealthy junk food (why are you buying this stuff anyway?).

h)      Read. The Internet and your local library have a wealth of info on nutrition, fitness, and mind-body relaxation. Get informed! Knowledge is power. Take a baby step and try one new, sensible thing you learned. Remember everything you read may not work for you.

With peace, love, joy, and gratitude,

Syd
